Money, Mindset & Mission: A Quick Q&A with our CEO, Roscoe Dekker

At the helm of TTT Financial Group is Roscoe — our CEO, co-founder, and a firm believer that financial planning isn’t just for the wealthy, it’s for everyone.

Q: What’s the best piece of financial advice you’ve ever received — and how has it shaped your approach to money?

Roscoe:
“Invest a portion of your first pay cheque — and make it a monthly habit. It should be your first expense.”
It taught me the power of consistency. Before you spend a cent, invest. That principle has shaped not only how I manage money personally but how we guide clients at TTT.

Q: For someone feeling overwhelmed by their finances, where should they start?

Roscoe:
Start small. Start with a daily budget. Track every expense.
If you’re in debt, look into consolidation. Go to the market for the lowest interest rate, and make paying it off your focus. Clarity comes from action.

Q: What was your biggest financial mistake early on — and what did it teach you?

Roscoe:
Taking uneducated risks on shares and investments. I learned the hard way that rushing into investments without doing proper due diligence rarely ends well. Sometimes, your best investment is no investment at all.

Q: What’s one myth about financial planning that more people need to let go of?

Roscoe:
That you’re too young or not wealthy enough to start.
That’s completely untrue. Financial planning is for everyone — and starting early is often the most powerful contributor to long-term wealth.

Q: Is there a small money habit you believe has a big impact?

Roscoe:
Investing in an index fund every month.
It’s simple, it’s smart, and it compounds beautifully over time.

Q: What drives you to do what you do at TTT every day?

Roscoe:
We serve over 15,000 clients — which means we’re potentially improving the financial lives of more than 50,000 South Africans. That’s what drives me and the team.
Our next goal? To bring financial clarity to 100,000 people across our full range of services.

Q: What’s been your proudest moment at TTT so far?

Roscoe:
Building a holistic financial platform that allows people to get everything they need in one place — and creating an environment where new shareholders can join and grow with us.

Q: Finance can be serious. What’s something unexpected about working at TTT?

Roscoe:
Watching your colleagues grow — professionally and personally. That’s incredibly rewarding and not something people always associate with the finance world.

Q: And finally, what are you passionate about outside of work?Roscoe:
Family and friends — always.
